To build the foundation for health care system change and move toward creating an ideal diabetes environment, NCDP is working in partnership with leaders from the diabetes community on the following strategies:

• Federal policy change.
  NCDP will encourage system change at the legislative level.
• Unified diabetes benchmarks and measures for societal, clinical and economic success.
  NCDP will help develop systems to measure diabetes care outcomes and costs.
• Creating financing change.
  NCDP will help ensure that quality diabetes care and preventive care is valued and rewarded.
• Raising diabetes on the national agenda.
  NCDP will raise diabetes on the national agenda.
