Dana Haza, Senior Director
Dana is an experienced alliance builder in the public and private sectors, finding creative solutions for large-scale systemic health care challenges. Prior to joining Novo Nordisk, Dana served the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) as the Acting Director of Programs and Coordination for the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. Also at DHHS, Dana was the Executive Director of the American Health Information Community for the Office of the Secretary. She was responsible for directing integration of all endeavors across the office of the National Coordinator and supporting dissemination and adoption of Administration policy on health information technology.

Prior to working for DHHS, Dana was the Director of Policy for Newt Gingrich at the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research (AEI), one of America's largest and most respected think tanks. In her role as Director of Policy, Dana worked closely with a variety of federal agencies and branches of the government on such projects as the 2003 Medicare bill, patient safety issues, electronic health records, as well as with the National Cancer Institute on creating a model of eliminating suffering and death by cancer by 2015. She has co-authored the book, Saving Lives & Saving Money, with Newt Gingrich and Anne Woodbury. While at AEI, Dana served on a congressional panel for the AcademyHealth and Friend of AHRQ.

Dana received a Presidential appointment to be the Director of the Commission on Systemic Interoperability early in January of 2005. Dana is passionate in her pursuit of health and wholeness for every American.

Amy Sargent, Manager
Amy has participated in the strategic planning, consensus building, and program development for NCDP since its inception. Amy currently is leading efforts to educate employers on the clinical and economic burden of diabetes engaging Fortune 500 companies such as Coca-Cola, Verizon, and FedEx.

Amy joined Novo Nordisk in June of 2003 with a background in nonprofits. Because of her commitment to the company's Triple Bottom Line (striving to deliver products that are sound for the environment, socially responsible and profitable) , she took a leading role in the U.S. DAWN (Diabetes Attitudes, Wishes and Needs) project, addressing psychosocial needs and the person behind the disease. Amy also enhanced the company's presence at the American Diabetes Association's Diabetes Expos and developed programs for African Americans and American Indians.

Prior to joining Novo Nordisk, Amy was the first executive director of Hands on Columbus, an organization that promoted volunteerism by linking people to flexible opportunities for service. Amy was awarded the 2002 Community Improvement Award of Columbus, Georgia, as a result of her vision and leadership for the first annual MLK Serve-A-Thon.

Amy is an alumnus of Penn State University. Her studies also took her to University of Manchester, England, where she received a bachelor degree in art. She now resides in Somerset, New Jersey with her husband. Together, they enjoy travel, sports and art.

Erin Byrne, Manager
Erin Byrne brings an extensive amount of diabetes and public health knowledge to the National Changing Diabetes® Program. It was her interest in nutrition and diabetes that brought her to Novo Nordisk in January 2006 as a Diabetes Care Specialist (DCS) in New York, NY. During her time in as a DCS, she was very active with the diabetes community. Her achievements there included bringing type 1 patient and world-class mountain climber, Will Cross, to New York to participate in Mount Sinai’s Pediatric Endocrinology summer camp in 2006. Erin also led her district’s participation with the JDRF Walk for a Cure in 2006 and 2007. She continued to work closely with Mt. Sinai and other professionals to assist in many diabetes awareness campaigns. In 2007, Erin was awarded the Novo Nordisk Circle of Excellence award for her work.

Erin’s background has enabled her to bring analytic and assessment skills to NCDP, as well as a unique perspective from her time as interacting with physicians about diabetes care, and through her public health coursework.

Prior to joining Novo Nordisk, Erin worked as a Professional Sales Representative for Ortho-McNeil Jansen Pharmaceuticals, a Johnson and Johnson Company. While at Johnson and Johnson, Erin won the Presidents Pinnacle award in 2004 and the District Representative of the Year for 2004.

Erin currently is working to obtain her Master’s in Public Health degree at New York University. She lives in Hoboken New Jersey with her husband.
