National Diabetes Goal
Some of the nation's leading health advocacy organizations, including the
American Diabetes Association, American Assocation of Diabetes Educators
and American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists put forth a unified
National Diabetes Goal in order to publicly demonstrate our collective will
to improve prevention and detection of diabetes. By coming to consensus on
a National Diabetes Goal we create a unified, overarching rallying point for
the country around diabetes, while still supporting each of our individual
organizational missions. Together, we can then leverage the National
Diabetes Goal to galvanize public support for changing diabetes®
and use the Goal as a platform on which to build and advance strategies
that affect positive change.
The National Diabetes Goal Is: By 2015, 45%* of
Americans who are at risk for type 2 diabetes will know their blood
glucose level and what actions to take.
